ONE WORLD, ONE VERSE一个世界,共写篇章

Compliance at the core · Stability first · Open by design

Every student gets support that fits.Every teacher gets time to teach.

Shanhai Tongwen is the AI platform for learning Chinese, developed by GACEE for schools, education providers and companies worldwide. Teachers make the calls; AI handles lesson prep, review and progress tracking. Every answer shows its source, and learning keeps going on a weak connection.

The demo runs on test data — no account needed.

Product preview: a laptop shows the teacher's workbench, with work waiting for sign-off, AI proposals to approve and a live class in progress; a phone shows the learner's Today page with the daily goal and tasks; Xiaomo, the study companion, stands beside them.

One platform

A workspace for every role

One set of courses and data, five workspaces — and each role sees only what is theirs.

AI drafts. You sign off.

Shared by remote teachers, local teachers and curriculum teams

  • The lesson studio turns one lesson into a plan, slides, tiered exercises and a quick quiz — each with its sources.
  • AI marking and agent proposals wait in your to-do list. Learners see nothing until you sign it off.
  • Live classes are set up and the register taken for you; a change or cancellation reaches the whole class in one tap.

Our principles

AI has limits. Teachers decide.

These three are built into the product, not just written on this page.

Illustration: a lesson plan drafted by AI waits at the Sign off button; once the teacher signs it off, the record is written to the audit chain.

Learners see it only after a teacher signs off

AI drafts lesson plans, marking and suggestions; teachers check each item before anything goes out, and every approval is written to the audit chain.

Illustration: Xiaomo answers a grammar question, with the source “Lesson 3 · Grammar card 2” shown under the answer.

Every answer shows its source

Xiaomo answers only from the course books and materials, and says where each answer comes from. Questions it isn't sure about go to the teacher.

Illustration: when the connection weakens, the live class switches from full interaction to audio with the board; the Lesson 3 pack is already downloaded and works offline.

Learning that survives a weak connection

Lesson packs download in advance and sync once you're back online; live classes switch automatically between full interaction, audio with the board, and text only.

How this differs from the usual approach
AreaCommon practiceShanhai Tongwen
Where answers come fromThe training data of a general-purpose modelThe course knowledge graph and the textbooks themselves (TIDAR-KAG retrieval); every answer carries its source
Who decidesAI writes and publishes directlyAgents only propose; nothing happens until a teacher or school approves, and every decision is written to the audit chain
Data ownershipData sits with the platform and is hard to move outIsolated per organisation; data can be exported through Connector at any time — no lock-in
PrivacyLearner data may be used to train modelsIdentifiable data goes only to models within its own jurisdiction (a model gateway picks the model by data class); learner data is not used for training
ConnectivityNeeds fast, stable internet and recent devicesOffline first; live classes step down with the connection; entry-level Android phones work
Quality controlProblems surface through user feedback after launchA new version doesn't ship if the source rate, error rate or hand-off rate gets worse (AgentOps evaluation)

Xiaomo, the study companion

Every student gets a study companion

Xiaomo remembers what each student has learned and what still needs practice, and explains it in their own language. The memory belongs to the student — view it, export it or clear it at any time.

The learning loop

  1. Review
  2. Explain
  3. Practise
  4. Improve

Xiaomo · sample conversation

  1. Hi Nadia! The tone change on 不bù tripped you up twice last time, so let's start there.Lesson 2 · Notes
  2. Why is it bú kèqi and not bù kèqi?
  3. Before a fourth tone, 不bù is read in the second tone — so it's bú kèqi.Lesson 2 · Pronunciation card 3
  4. Does 一yī change tone too?
  5. We haven't covered that yet, and I'd rather not guess — I've passed it to Ms Wang. You'll get a notification when she replies.Passed to Ms Wang

A few numbers you can check

  • 18

    interface languages

Explanations move from the learner's own language towards Chinese

  • 15

specialist AI agents, each with one job

They propose; teachers and schools approve

  • ≤ 150 MB

    of offline content per device

Shared by lesson packs, videos and books

  • 2 GB

of memory is enough to run smoothly

    Entry-level Android phones work

Connect

Works with your existing systems

Rosters, grades, calendars, meetings and notifications sync as needed. Personal data leaves the platform only with an administrator's approval, and every sync can be traced.

Trust & compliance

Student data stays where it belongs

Where it is stored, who may use it and how — every point is set out in the Trust Center.

Data resides in Singapore
The platform runs in the Singapore region and the deployment configuration enforces it; object storage is never copied to another region.
Guardian consent
Minors need a guardian's consent before using AI features, and it can be withdrawn at any time; using photos or learners' work needs separate consent.
Not for training, not for ads
Learner data is not used to train any third-party general-purpose model, nor for advertising.
Trust Center

Every status is stated as it is: only assessed, audited or certified items carry a check mark.

How we measure

Measured by outcomes

Not by how many features there are — by these four things.

  • Learning outcomes

Mastery of each knowledge point, using its lower bound; thin data is labelled as such.

  • Teacher time

The hours teachers spend each week on lesson prep and marking.

  • Engagement

Weekly activity and task completion — offline work included.

  • Operating cost

AI cost per learner per month.

The method is public; results will be published each term together with partner schools.

Walk through it all on test data — from lesson prep to progress reports
